Thanks for visiting our travel blog. We hope you'll
check back throughout our summer excursion (Mon. July 16 – Fri. Sept. 1) to
stay in touch with us and share in our experiences.
In just 18 short days, we'll begin our journey to Brussels, Belgium,
which will be our home for five weeks. While we’re there we’ll enjoy a variety
of day trips and an extended weekend in London during the closing ceremonies of
the Olympics before we conclude our travels with vacation stops in Paris,
the Belgian coast and Amsterdam.
We’re staying in a two-bedroom apartment in the heart of Brussels and
already know where to find the best fries, waffles and markets thanks to a ton
of great advice from the Hagen family, friends who enjoyed a similar experience
just two summers ago. Betsy will be working in her company’s office for much of
our stay so Xander, Vaughn, Quinn and I will have plenty of time to really get
to know the city.
We still have a lot of work to do, but have been busy making all the
necessary preparations and lists of stuff to pack and do. We’ll shift into extreme prep mode a
week before our departure while the kids are in YMCA day camp all week thanks to
brilliant scheduling by Mrs. Hughes.
| Thank you, please exchange your canteen for une verre d'eau. |
Look for an update or two as the trip nears, then almost daily posts throughout
our peregrination.

Nice Blog!
ReplyDeleteDuring your vacation week on the coast I'd like to suggest a day train trip to Madurodam, Den Hague in the Netherlands. My parents took me to this miniature dutch city when I was a kid. You can walk through it, but the church steeples are just a little taller than your kids. Great attraction for kids.
Also, kids are impressed with the Ann Frank house in Amsterdam. The secret door behind the bookcase is still there.
Enjoy!
Joel
